A Europe customer e-mailed this story to me

Quote
I saw to a friend of mine how bad are the Apple products.

He has one of 160 Gb but it needs one minute to open o folder, it needs to manually re-write all 1000 mp3 songs in order for i-Tunes to manage them properly, it does freeze at every 3 minutes while uploading files from computer, and it costs a lot of money.

And this is bad. This is not democratic. I am happy you still exists. My first model of Hi-A8 had been bought from an underground shop in London, and a girlfriend brought me from there. But when I looked again on the net, the shop "disappeared".

About my older unit... what I did is that... after my batteries where completely down, I tried to supply the unit by the USB input using external batteries. Well,... on that moment I noticed that it almost instantly shut down after few seconds. It just didn't let me using external batteries. But that was not the only problem (which I didn't knew that it was not ok to try it). After doing this several times, I reinserted the consumed batteries, which only works for one hour or so, but when connected to the charger, it will no longer show the window asking me "do you wish to connect in USB mode ?"... and that meant that I'll no longer connected it to the computer.

Fortunately, the unit supports hardware replace so I could simply extract the hard disk and separately load it through a computer USB port, and then reinsert it back in my unit and is going fine.

Next step was to solve the batteries problem and I did it. I had replaced perfectly the cells inside with ne cells of larger capacities from a pirate shop. And now I have 3 amps batteries which will help me keep the ongoing audition for more then 24 hours.

So I'll better keep this one working as it is, because I still have very very good quality results with it.

But above all, let me thanks you for having this conversation, because in Apple case, there is no such thing possible. They are producing everything in such a way that it makes the user to become sick when using the device, waiting and waiting hours to insert the music, and restarting the device every 3-4 minutes. By the way, the screen is presenting the menu over the pictures you wish to watch, and the photos are not reproduced on to the largest screen capacity...

Thank you for reading this !

Thank you for your quick response. First, I had never knew what was the name of the device I had, the Hi-A8. Only few days ago when I needed so much to find out something more advanced, .......

.......and after seeing that searching with the keyword "i-Pod" never lead me anywhere except Apple, ... I panic just a little.

So I looked again on the installation mini CD which came with the device, and there where 3 word documents about how to use. And in one of them there was a table where it said : product name: Hi-X8. But I really have is not this one, but a close related one. But for going into google search was just good enough to lead me through you. The device I have is non name, the batteries are no name, the charger is no name... that it was difficult to find out about.

Really many many people don't know you exists, and they'll continue to pay for bad Apple products. And finally, ... as my batteries problems are now solved, I am no longer having the fear of what's come out after they are completely wasted. I just replace the cells inside, without damaging the electronic charging minicircuit. Fortunately I have good eyes, and I can read and see details of fractions of one 0,1 mm with naked eyes and I did the exchange.

One more problem I had solved is this: normally, all products (i-Pod or not), which does have jacks inputs and outputs the contacts breaks very quickly. I saw this to another i-Pod to someone else, which after inserting and extracted the audio cable in and out of the jack, the jack lost one contact with one channel.

At that time, the jack where mounted on the very inside place of the device and I could not reach them to make a replacement. But knowing this, after I had received my unit from London, I had soldered with my letcon one father jack in the mother jack permanently and the father jack I had been soldered to an external mother jack which is doing so well, that it already resisted more then 1000 in and out cable connections. And when that one breaks down, the inside one is still OK, and I'll only replace the external one.

And believe me, no matter how beautiful design will have my new device, which I'll buy from you, I'll do the same operation, never to fear again of introducing audio or video cables within the jack sockets even of 10.000 times. The video jack is even more sensible, because it contains 3 contacts (2 for audio and one for the video), so I'll create a special design on a glasstextolit plate with all 3 father jacks which will permanently be entered into their 3 motherboard jacks (audio output, video in and video out), and on the other side of the textolit plate I'll place another kind of mother jacks which will resist to more then 10.000 times cable connections in and out, while the originals will never move their contacts again.

I'll attach some photos of how I made it to my actual Hi-A8 device, and it doesn't look bad at all. Well, that was just a little story to add to your experience. Maybe it will help you developing something... or adding something much better then I did. You know, in Romania we can't afford many things... so we are "creative" as we can.

I'll wait for the new product in one or two months you said you are preparing... possible will break all records and devices ever created by "great" Apple-like companies.

Best wishes
