Hi,

I know there are several threads that discuss the issue of file corruption and mp3 skipping, but given the fact that there are to be no new firmware releases, I thought I'd post this solution that I've worked out, hoping that a new topic might be more visible to those still experiencing pain.

What I've found is that firstly, if I re-encode my music to WMA files and only ever use WMA for audio on the pmp400, then I never get any skipping.

What's is even better, is that the file system doesn't get corrupted!

I have usually had to reformat the drive every couple of months after listening to mp3's.  Recently, I converted my entire collection to WMA, and since then the audio has all played perfectly, and the file system has remained intact.

Last night I copied some mp3's to the unit.  I played them today.  Now the directory containing those mp3's is corrupt.  It's too much of a coincidence for me.

I hope this little insight is of some help to others.  It's a great little unit given it's age now, and I've had countless hours of entertainment from it.
