Hi anyone.

I've just upgraded the firmware of my PMP400 to resease #10 with the charger attached. The "writing" label reached the 100% and the unit turned off.

Then I turned it ON again and the splah screen "ALL IN ONE" appears, the HDD flashes twice and ... nothing else. The unit is dead. Really?

Isn't there any way to "bring it to life"?

not really, can only be fixed by sending back to factory which is not an option for you....try if it boots without the hard disk.

Have you tried plugging it into a PC via USB?  IF that doesn't work, then perhaps your unit wasn't a real pmp400, and the firmware isn't compatible.  There are some warnings about this.

Another thing you could try is to remove the hard drive, hook it up to a PC via USB using a cradle, and reformatting the drive using fat32format.  then put it back into the pmp.

I'm running release #10 with no problems.

My unit is one of the Airis pop 200 video and on the PCB it's the KFD-4V0 code. I hadn't thought it may function without the hard disk attached. I'll try today when gone back home. I actually live in Spain and sending the unit to the factory isn't a valid optios as Eric has said.

I've used it a lot of times plugged to my PC via USB and it works correctly so that i can transfer movies from the PC to the unit. Now, after the firmware update, it only displays the splash window and nothing more: no menu, no USB connection works.

I've formatted the hard disk using fat32format as i read here in a previos thread but nothing happens.

There's a question I'm wondering about: when the writing of the firmware finished, the lights turned off and I turned the unit on again. Should something have happened before i rebooted or I did it correctly?

Thanks for your help, after trying to boot without the har disk attached I'll tell you what happened.
